GUITAR HERO SELLS OUT

Video games have really begun to sell out with their product endorsements. It's starting to make me sick. I first began to notice in either Tony Hawk 3 or 4 when billboards for Jeep and Nokia started popping up in the skateparks. Booooooooo! And now with its third incarnation, Guitar Hero has also given in and sold out for mo' money. Take note of the Axe special guitar up for purchase which is designed to mimic a can of the odiferous body spray. Also, the "Bom Chicka Wah Wah" backup dancer that comes out during various encore performances. What is this? Seriously!
A little less subtle is the pack of Wrigley's 5 gum laying close to the playlist in either career or quick play modes. Why all this? Personally, I blame Neversoft. I was a big fan of those guys since I don't think the Tony Hawk games would have ever gotten off the ground without them. But their games are becoming way too commercialized. Guitar Hero is a really popular game now. Do they really need the extra dough brought on by in-game advertising? Surely enough people are buying the game that they can enjoy cruising in their Hummer H3's without that pack of 5.
I also blame Neversoft for the list of songs. Granted, there are some greats, like "Welcome to the Jungle" and Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Pride and Joy", which is a lot of fun to play, but there are too many songs on there that I don't know and don't enjoy. I don't like playing the game when 4 of the 5 songs in a set are from the year the game is released. I don't know these songs! And most of the time they're not that fun to play, either.
But what irks me most is Neversoft's less-than-obvious show of stinginess. The Sex Pistol's "Anarchy in the UK": also in Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds, a game by Activision and Neversoft. "Holiday in Cambodia" by Dead Kennedys: "Police Truck" by Dead Kennedys in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater by Activision and Neversoft. A coincidence? Could be. My thoughts are that Neversoft is either striking some pretty cheap deals with certain bands or are saving a lot of money by regurgitating songs for their different games. But seeing as I have never heard of Dead Kennedys outside of these two games, I doubt Neversoft is picking out these songs because of their chart-topping status.

THE FIRST

This is the first entry into my "blog". I say "blog" because it's a place for me to "type" stuff. Just any darn little thing I feel like. I say "type" because I think it's funny. Who's with me on that one?
As of this entry, remote linking is still forbidden on this page, even though that's not what I'm doing. The only image that chooses to show its ugly little face is the PS2 "Links" menu button. I say "Links" because, you get the point. The time is now 11:06 Central Standard Time and I have a final exam at 7:30 tomorrow morning, CST; 8:30 Eastern, 6:30 Mountain, 5:30 Pacific, yada yada yada. The subject is programming languages, which curiously, I feel less confident about than my Japanese language final.
